#lolirock #posereferencesI started a new remote job last week, and I'm the only genderqueer person at the company (and the first person who uses neo pronouns that anyone on my team has ever met, apparently).
So far:
I am so stoked that people are actually trying. 💜🤍💚
It's important to remember this kind of stuff, especially with the world the way it is now. When i started my current job and i told HR about my name and pronouns, she called me to ask which locker room i wanted to be in and told me where all the neutral bathrooms are (which is all of them except the locker rooms).
I've had to come out to my team a couple times because of new hires and whatnot but every time it has gone well. People aren't perfect but they try and they correct themselves. I usually just get nods of understanding and a couple of times people have asked me questions to understand better.
When one of my employees misgendered me despite me directly correcting her and I documented it, the site director texted me at MIDNIGHT to apologize and assure me that he and HR would handle it. The operations manager sent me a similar email the next morning.
We aren't alone. People care. People understand us and are on our side.
i was starting a new job, and before i went in for my first training in the afternoon, i talked to my mom on the phone. she was very excited because a nonbinary person who used they/them had just starting coming to her kungfu classes. "i got their pronouns like a pro because of you, so i got to surprise them with this 60 year old lady being super smooth with their pronouns."
later at my onboarding, a younger coworker surprised me by asking for my pronouns (i hadn't yet considered whether i wanted to be out at work) and i automatically replied they/them. my new boss, standing next to me, went "oh excellent! my youngest is nonbinary, i got this."
not only is people making the effort for you special and beautiful, you're also making life easier for those who come after, in a beautiful pay-it-forward loop-de-loop of pronoun teaching
the things i'd do for a sticker-
i feel like all fandom spaces would improve dramatically if more people learned how to enjoy non-canon ships which were never written as romantic without acting entitled to official validation or throwing a hissy fit over not getting something that they were never promised
like i promise there’s nothing wrong with shipping characters together while accepting that they won’t ever be a canon couple or with choosing to interpret their interactions as romantic while acknowledging that the writers clearly didn’t intend for it to be read that way
fandom having such easy contact with casts and writers and stuff was a mistake
leave them alone lmao fandom isn’t about changing canon, it’s about playing with it like barbies
I hate you epitome of innocence being represented with blonde hair I hate you lightness representing goodness I hate you "angelic features" automatically being read as blonde hair and blue eyed with pale skin I hate you whiteness as the default for morality I HATE YOU I HATE YOU
The issue is not a blonde and blue-eyed character existing means that the creator is racist, it's how the trait was associated with kindness and "angelic features" and presented as ideal while other characters with darker hair and skin was presented as ugly and undesirable.
You can have characters who nice, just happened to be blonde/blue-eyed/both traits but if all of your blonde/blue-eyed/both traits are inherently good, beautiful, and "pure" I'm going to break your bones.
Posting my video on here from TikTok. It’s been a hot minute since I was active on this account but dang, this is where it all started 10+ years ago. I MISS Y’ALL 😭
Man posts transition journey followed by thirst traps.
Slay.
That 8 year jump is HILARIOUS lmao good job sir
actually so obsessed with characters who join the team or the found family or the friend group or whatever last. characters who are brought into the fold after everyone is already close to each other. characters who aren't outsiders but that won't stop them from feeling like one
